DeBlank

Meet Mr. DeBlank, everybody knows him as Phil. Everyone sees Phil. Everyone wonders about Phil, but Phil N. DeBlank seems to wonder about nothing. We all see Phil barreling down the highway without regard for anyone or anything. Sometimes he drives his car but lately Mr. DeBlank has obtained his CDL and has entered into the world of trucking. Phil has a truck, not a great truck, not an efficient truck and definitely not a safe truck, yet we see him out there everyday. Phil is hoping his truck can make the trip. He rolls past you in construction zones without slowing down. Phil passes you in blind curves. He has no regard for other cars or trucks on the road. He is just cruising down the road, one foot on the dash and a video playing on a phone or tablet on his dash. Phil N. DeBlank does not think we see him, but we all do. Phil doesn't care or even give a second thought to you as he passes by. Phil cannot figure out why he has such bad luck. Phil does all the wrong things to be successful, but cannot see where the problems lie. Phil N. DeBlank drives too fast for road conditions. Phil idles his truck all night. He cannot figure out why his fuel costs are so high. He will not do proper repairs to his truck. Phil can't figure out why he is always in the shop for repairs and he cannot be sure he can pay yet another repair bill. Phil has trouble finding good paying loads, so usually out of desperation, he eventually takes loads that have little or no profit in them and he thinks that if he races to the destination, he can make up for lost time. Phil N. DeBlank has a poor business model, yet he is also unwilling to learn and become better at his business or improve his driving skills. If you try to assist Mr. DeBlank, he refuses your generosity and continues his failing ways.
We have all seen Phil N. DeBlank practically everyday out on the road. You may know Phil. Heck, you might even be Phil N. DeBlank. What am I saying, you cannot be Mr. DeBlank, he wouldn't bother reading anything that might help him realize his aptitude and his attitude are something he needs to address. Phil has no plans to change for the better, however, he will most likely change for the worse.
There are a lot of Phil N. DeBlank drivers out there and we all just have to work around the hazard that they are to everyone.
Don't be a Phil N. DeBlank driver. Watch out for Phil. Phil will be tailgating you again soon. Let Phil go around.

We are all born ignorant, but one must work hard to remain stupid.

See you down the road,
Greg
